SCOPE OF OUR SERVICES

First Love outpatient ward / adolescent gynaecology

Birth control advice in the various phases of life

Preventive medical examinations  > more

The preventive medical examination includes examination of the breast (for prevention of breast cancer), PAP smear as well as advice regarding HPV vaccination (for prevention of cervical cancer) and vaginal ultrasound (to detect potential cysts or tumours). It should be part of your routine preventive health care and should be utilised at least once a year. If breast or cervical cancer is detected in a premalignant stage, chances for a cure are very good. Early detection and efficient therapy of fungal infections, bacterial infections or Chlamydia infections serve to rapidly alleviate problems and to avoid potentially ensuing health problems. Also benign disorders such as e.g. endometriosis should be detected and treated at an early stage.

In order to save you additional trips and as a special service, we perform nearly all steps within the scope of the preventive medical examination at our medical practice, such as breast examination, ultrasound, drawing blood and taking smears to check for infection.

Abnormal PAP smear: evaluation and therapy(Dysplasia outpatient ward: colposcopy for examining the external orifice of the uterus or the external genital area with the microscope)  > more

Taking a PAP smear from the cervix is part of the routine preventive gynaecological examination. It serves to detect diseases of the cervix such as inflammations, infections and especially carcinomas in as early a stage as possible so that it can effectively be treated in time.

During the examination, cell samples are taken from the surface of the uterine orifice and the cervix with a small brush. This smear of cells is stained and subsequently examined with a microscope. The surroundings, background, number of modified (“abnormal”) cells, their configuration and characteristics are evaluated – the results are subsequently divided into 5 groups (PAP I-V).

While PAP I and II stand for normal results without further need for action, PAP III and IV mean that for further evaluation, a colposcopy (mirror examination of the external orifice of the uterus or the outer genital area with the microscope) should be performed. It may make sense to take a sample a few millimetres in size from an area of the external orifice of the uterus that appears suspicious during colposcopy for histological examination – in addition, a smear for an HPV test should be taken. PAP V indicates malignant cell modifications.

We perform smears for cancer and HPV as well as colposcopy at our medical practice – in this way, we spare our patients long waiting times for an appointment in the dysplasia outpatient ward of a hospital. When all results have been received, we schedule an appointment for an in-depth discussion of the results and counselling on potentially necessary therapies suitable for your needs, based on our specific expertise in this area.

Gynaecological oncology  > more

Beyond the medical care and due to the specialisation and experience of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Kucera-Sliutz and Prim. Univ.-Doz. Dr. Gerhard Sliutz regarding the treatment and surgical procedures of all gynaecological cancers (incl. breast cancer), you will also find practical assistance in our medical practice to overcome this frequently heavily burdensome situation. Should chemotherapy be necessary, this can be undergone at hospitals we closely collaborate with - the Krankenanstalt Rudolfstiftung Vienna hospital  or at one of Vienna’s private hospitals such as Rudolfinerhaus, Goldenes Kreuz and Privatklinik Döbling. In addition, we are also happy to advise you on concomitant complementary medicine therapies.

Surgical gynaecology (as well as discussion of all alternatives) incl. aftercare
specialising in minimally invasive surgical procedures such as endoscopy, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy  > more

Due to the multitude of possibilities in modern preventive and therapeutic care, the number of surgeries in gynaecology has strongly decreased. Nonetheless, sometimes surgery cannot be avoided. We prepare you for surgery and personally perform all common surgeries (as e.g. curettage, conisation, laparoscopy, hysterectomy, breast surgeries etc.). Of course we also accept the care after surgery, which is fundamental for the healing process.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Kucera-Sliutz performs all surgeries as an outside specialist at Vienna’s private hospitals and will look after you for the entire duration of your in-patient stay at the hospital.

Prim.
Univ.-Doz. Dr. Gerhard Sliutz  is an expert in minimally invasive surgery: using gentle surgical techniques such as endoscopy, laparoscopy and hysteroscopy allows for keeping injuries of all tissue layers to a minimum. Wound healing is faster, time of rehabilitation is shorter as well. Moreover, a minimal procedure has cosmetic advantages.

Unrealised wish to have children: evaluation and therapy

Pregnancy and family planning (incl. vaccination advice)

pregnancy care (incl. counselling on various “gentle” ways to give birth such as water birth, birthing stool)  > more

In order to save you an additional trip to the laboratory and as a special service, we perform nearly all steps within the scope of pregnancy examinations and monitoring at our medical practice, such as breast and urine examinations, ultrasound, first blood sample for the “Mutter-Kind-Pass” (maternity record) and taking smears to check for infections.

Obstetrics / deliveries  > more

We are happy to look after you during the time of your pregnancy – from the first examination until child birth – and personally deliver your child in one of Vienna’s renowned private hospitals that we closely collaborate with, such as the Privatklinik Döbling, Goldenes  Kreuz and Rudolfinerhaus. If you decide in favour of delivering in one of the hospitals of the Vienna community  or a hospital of the Vinzenz group, we are also happy to care for you during your pregnancy and will refer you to the hospital you selected.

If you wish, we will recommend a private midwife for extra care at the respective maternity ward in the private hospitals of Vienna, who will join our team and together with us, will care for you from the first childbirth class to delivery and until the end of your puerperium.
